Bill Truitt, owner of Bill's Accuracy, has been a precision gunsmith since the 1980s. He is a former Maryland State policeman, retired on disability. Bill has placed in the top 10 in many regional and national matches shooting his own rifles, and has built rifles for several other top-10 shooters. From his background with precision machining and his enjoyment of shooting, Bill has built one of the premiere rifle shops in the country for varmint, benchrest, and accurate hunting rifles.
In addition to gunsmithing and target shooting, Bill helps local farmers with their "deer depredation" campaign; in other words, hunting excess deer on local farms using their crop-damage permits. Bill shoots more deer every year than many people do in a lifetime, at all ranges and in all sorts of conditions. Over years of testing rifles and cartridges, he has developed an intimate knowledge of what works (and what doesn't work) for deer hunting.
Because of his accomplishments, Bill has been selected by Forster Precision Products as one of four inaugural members of the Forster ProStaff, their prestigious advisory panel. To read more about that, click here.
Bill is a Lifetime Member of the National Rifle Association and belongs to International Benchrest Shooters and the Maryland State Rifle & Pistol Association.
Bill has written several articles for gunsmith magazines and journals over the years. One is currently available here:
"The Ultimate" Deer Hunting Cartridge.
Shooters News, September 1999 (Vol. 5 No. 8), pages 12-15.
